Shoulder placement is breed specific to form and function. Most dogs fall into one of three categories:
a) well laid-back shoulders
b) moderately laid-back shoulders
c) straight shoulders
Some breeds may have correct shoulders for their individualized form and function, but would be incorrect for the Boston Terrier. The Boston Terrier requires a “well laid-back shoulder” which conforms to the angle of approximately 90 degrees.
There is a lot of literature in regards to shoulders and shoulder placement. I suggest you read all you can and educate yourself. Do not fall victim to just one person’s opinion.
The last three #MentorMonday posts have been about front end assembly. It is important you get this down before we move onto the next topic: movement, specifically in the Boston Terrier.
